Colours and repeated letters
Green means the letter is in the right position, yellow means it belongs elsewhere, and grey means it does not fill any remaining position. The answer can repeat a letter. If you guess two Es but only one receives green or yellow, the second E does not establish that the answer contains another E.
How to choose a first guess
Start with an accepted five-letter word containing several different letters, so one guess tests both vowels and consonants. No opening word guarantees a win. On your next turn, combine the clues from every row: keep green letters in place, move yellow letters and rule out letters that are entirely grey. A repeated letter is still possible unless the colours rule it out.
A worked example without revealing today’s answer
In a fictional puzzle with APPLE as the answer, guessing PAPER would give yellow, yellow, green, yellow, grey. The yellow first P and green third P would confirm two Ps; A would belong somewhere other than the second position, E somewhere other than the fourth, and R would be absent. Look for a word satisfying all those clues together. This is a rules example, independent of today’s puzzle.
Words and editing your guess
Your guesses are checked against a dictionary that includes common words and inflected forms. Possible answers use a separate selection that favours frequent words. Accents are normalised to plain letters. Click a square in the current row to replace a letter, or use the arrow keys, Backspace and Delete to edit before submitting.
Daily, Unlimited and saved progress
The daily answer changes at midnight UTC. Choose Unlimited for a new puzzle immediately, or the archive for a previous date. These modes keep separate histories. Your guesses are saved on this device, and an optional account lets you continue on another device.
